Confronting the unseen, creating for change

I am Oleksandra, a mixed-media artist from Ukraine, currently based in Dresden, Germany. My work explores complex and often overlooked themes such as mental health, fear, loss, chronic illness, and the realities of war. Through interdisciplinary approaches, I aim to ask thought-provoking questions and provoke honest reflection, believing that by confronting these difficult topics, we can begin to transform our world for the better.

As a refugee and someone who has experienced deep personal loss, I bring my lived experiences into my art, with the hope of creating spaces for healing, dialogue, and change. I believe that art has the power to inspire, challenge, and connect us across boundaries of language, culture, and experience.

In my practice, I strive to create a platform for creative exploration and self-expression, while also encouraging others to embrace their own creative potential. I am passionate about supporting emerging artists, collaborating, and fostering a diverse, inclusive community.

Collage: Layers of Emotion, Fragmented Realities

My collage works are a reflection of the complexity and fragmentation of human experience. By layering materials, images, and textures, I aim to capture the intricate layers of life, from the visible to the hidden. Each piece serves as a narrative, weaving together fragments of the past, present, and future to explore themes such as mental health, grief, war, and the search for meaning.

In my collages, I use diverse materials to convey a sense of rawness and depth, inviting the viewer to look closely and engage with the layers of emotion, history, and thought embedded in the work. These pieces are not just visual representations, but an exploration of the fragmented and often contradictory nature of our lives, with the hope that through this reflection, we can find connections, healing, and understanding.

Photography allows me to freeze fleeting moments, celebrate diversity, and highlight the beauty in the everyday. My work spans a variety of subjects, from dynamic events and body-positive projects to the quiet elegance of objects. Each photograph tells a unique story, celebrating the raw, authentic beauty of life.

My photography journey began with the calm beauty of objects and landscapes, capturing the stillness of the world around us. Over time, I expanded my focus to event photography, where I learned to capture the energy and emotions of live moments. Today, I am embracing a new chapter as a stock photographer, capturing images that tell stories, evoke emotions, and resonate with a wide audience.
